The Weeds in Your Yard Will Become the Weeds in Your Neighbor's Yard

I love magic and signs and synchronicities, and this week was filled with it.

And it was all about weeds.

I received an email from the HOA reminding us that the growing season is upon us and that we're responsible for keeping our grass to under six inches. And then it said:

"Please take care of weeds as the weeds in your yard will become the weeds in your neighbor's yard."

I thought about the cheat grass on the side of my house, how I love that it flows with the breeze and adds some softness to that side of the house. And with the email, I thought, dang it, I need to pull that all out because I would feel bad if it wandered over to my neighbor's yard.

I ended up pulling weeds in the backyard over the weekend and planned to do the front and side yards the following weekend.

And then the magic arrived.

On a Soul Forward Method alum call, one of the incredible women shared that she's done a lot of work on her side of the street, but that she's feeling like she needs to go a step further and see if she's unintentionally planted seeds in her partner's yard.

She's been tending her yard and garden, doing the work emotionally, mentally, physically, consciously, subconsciously, and energetically. And she realized that even though she's worked her side of the street, she may have contributed, over the course of the relationship, to weeds in his yard.

This is the kind of stuff we discover when we're willing to see how we're part of the dynamics, patterns, routines, and expectations within a relationship.

This isn't about hauling all the gear over to take care of our partner's yard. It's not about handing over a lemonade while they sit in a lounge chair and watch us do the work for them.

But it is about owning our role in what's been created. It might require boundaries, apologies, or uncomfortable conversations to redraw the agreements we've been unknowingly operating under.

More magic came in a later SFM call when I shared the HOA story and the insights from the alum call. That's when another incredible woman said:

"What a translation to the work you do. The weeds in your yard will become the weeds in theirs."

And it's true.

It's about being part of the solution, not the problem.

Soul Forward Method and the other offerings I put out into the world are to help us come all the way home to our soul self, who navigates this human experience from a higher plane of consciousness and insane awareness, so that we come into alignment with our path.

A path of wholeness, not destruction.

We don't shy away from the growth, ownership, and responsibility that will ultimately allow more of our soul to come forward. We're willing to see it and own it, because we've already experienced what's on the other side of doing this kind of work.

I can confidently say that I'll be out there pulling weeds and giving a bigger rip about what's mine to take care of before it becomes a problem for someone else.

But first, I'm buying a cute gardening fit.

Take care of your weeds (looking cute or not).
