Privacy Policy

Heidi Hazen LLC, an Oregon limited liability company (“Heidihazen.com,” “we,” or “us”) respects your individual privacy and has put this policy (the “Privacy Policy” or “Policy”) in place to communicate how we collect, store, and use your information.  The Policy is effective as of January 1, 2022 and applies to information collected through the website https://heidihazen.com/ (the “Site”), and covers the following areas:

·       The personally identifiable information (“PII”) collected by us or by any third party through our Site;

·       Use of this information;

·       Sharing of this information;

·       Choices that are available to you with respect to collection, use, and distribution of this information;

·       Security procedures in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of this information; and

·       Correcting any inaccuracies in the information.

Your access to and use of the Site and the courses offered by it (the “Courses”) is conditional upon your acceptance of and compliance with this Policy. This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who accesses or uses this Site.

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of the Privacy Policy, then you do not have our permission to access or use the Site. If you do not want us to handle your PII as described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Site.

1.      Information Collection and Use

We may collect information from you on the Site in two different ways. First, we may collect anonymous, aggregate information (such as a domain name or IP address). This type of information is never linked to any PII and is only used to generate statistical reports about the use of our Site.

Second, we may request the submission of certain PII when you request information, access services, or register with us for various updates or services. You are not required to submit PII, but you may not be able to access all services if you do not submit some information. For example, when you contact us by e-mail, we may collect your e-mail address and any other PII you provide in that e-mail. Likewise, if you create a customer account, or when you sign up for any Courses, subscription services, emails, or updates that are offered through our Site, we may collect and retain your name, billing address, telephone number, details relating to your purchase (including Courses ordered) and/or e-mail address. We share this information with our online store hosting provider, so that they can provide website services to us.

As you go through checkout, this site may auto-complete your shipping and billing address by sharing what you type with the Google Places API and returning suggestions to you to improve your checkout experience.

We may also collect and retain other PII that you voluntarily submit through our Site. We collect but do not retain your credit card information unless you consent to allow us to save that information for future purchases.

2.      Cookies

This Site uses cookies and similar technologies, which are small files or pieces of text that download to a device when a visitor accesses a website or app. For information about viewing the cookies dropped on your device, visit The cookies Squarespace uses and Section 6 below regarding Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

Cookies store information about your use of a particular website or service and are typically used to make services more convenient and personalized. We may use anonymous cookies called “session cookies” to measure traffic patterns to areas of our Site. Session cookies are created each time you visit one of our Sites, and do not remain on your computer after you leave the Site. We may also use personalized cookies when you have registered with the Site to customize your user experience. Personalized cookies are linked to your PII and remain on your computer after you leave our Site. For more information regarding the particular cookies our Site uses, please review below:

·       These functional and required cookies are always used, which allow Squarespace, our hosting platform, to securely serve this website to you.

·       These analytics and performance cookies are used on this website as described below. This website uses analytics and performance cookies to view site traffic, activity, and other data.

3.      Personal Information of Children Under 18

We comply with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC’s Rule interpreting COPPA (16 CFR § 512). This Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect any PII from children under 18 years of age through this Site. Should a child whom we know to be under 18 send personal information to us, we will use that information only to respond to that child to inform them that they cannot use this Site.

4.      Use of Your Personal Information

We use your PII to:

·       Reply to your requests for information, including newsletters;

·       Create de-identified aggregated information for statistical purposes, to improve our Site and services, and to improve user experience.

·       To improve customer service, respond to your customer service requests, and support needs more efficiently.

·       To send periodic emails and provide information and updates pertaining to your orders. Email addresses may also be used to respond to general inquiries, questions, or other requests.

We do not sell, rent, or share customer information to or with any third party not affiliated with or owned by us, except trusted third parties who provide services to us. We will never give or sell your PII to be used for the purposes of sending you unsolicited commercial offers (such as spam) from any third party.

We use the information that you provide to us for direct marketing purposes. Direct marketing is the act of selling products or services directly to consumers rather than through retailers. Residents of the European Union and the United Kingdom may, at any time, request that we cease to use your information for direct marketing purposes by emailing us at hello@heidihazen.com or by mail at P.O. Box 2151 Bend, OR 97709.

We may send you marketing emails, which you can unsubscribe from by clicking the link at the bottom of the email. We share your contact information with Keap, our email marketing provider, so they can send these emails on our behalf.

We may need to contact you for purposes other than marketing. For example, we may need to contact you regarding the status of the Heidi Hazen Site, updates to this Privacy Policy, or responses to questions you pose. You may not opt-out of these kinds of communications.

We may email you with messages about your order or account activity. For example, we may email you to tell you that:

·       You’ve created a customer account;

·       Your customer account password has been reset or updated; or

·       You’ve made a purchase

It’s not possible to unsubscribe from these messages. We share your contact information with Squarespace, our website hosting provider, so they can send these emails to you on our behalf.

5.      Use of Aggregate Information

This website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace collects personal data when you visit this website, including:

·       Your IP address

Squarespace needs the data to run this website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. Squarespace analyzes the data in a de-personalized form.

We may store information that we collect through log files to create a profile of our users.  Log files record internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Site, track your movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

Log file data is not linked to PII. A profile may be stored detailing how individual customers use the Site. It is used solely for internal purposes, to help us improve the experience of users of the Site. We may share your profile with third parties who assist us in processing the information, analyzing aggregated information, and optimizing our Site.

This website uses font files from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. To properly display this site to you, servers where the font files are stored may receive personal information about you, including:

Google Analytics helps site and app owners understand how people engage with a service, and uses a set of cookies to collect information and report site usage statistics without personally identifying individual visitors to Google. ‘_ga’ is the main cookie used by Google Analytics. ‘_ga’ enables a service to distinguish one user from another and lasts for 2 years. It’s used by any site that implements Google Analytics, including this one.

Google Tag Manager is a tag management system that deploys tags on a website. Digital marketing tags are used to integrate third-party software into digital properties such as websites and web applications and to check whether a user has accessed some content. In order to monitor system stability and performance, Google Tag Manager may collect some aggregated data about tag firing. This data does not include user IP addresses or any user-specific identifiers that could be associated with a particular individual. Other than data in standard HTTP request logs, all of which are deleted within 14 days of being received, Google Tag Manager does not collect, retain, or share any information about visitors to this Site, including page URLs visited. Learn more about our use of Google Tag Manager data in Google’s terms of service.

7.      Disclosure of Personal Information As Required By Law

We will disclose PII when required by law, or if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us, (b) protect and defend our rights, or (c) protect the rights, property, and other interests of our users or others.

8.      Business Transitions

In the event we go through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of a portion of its assets, PII of users collected through this Site may be part of the assets transferred. The information transferred or shared remains subject to the promises made in this Privacy Policy, unless you are notified of new terms.

9.      Links

This Site contains links to other websites, including our Instagram and the Teachable web platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these other websites. It is up to you to read and fully understand their privacy policies. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by our Site. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Site and to read the privacy statements of every website that collects PII. Our inclusion of hyperlinks to such websites does not imply any endorsement of the material on such websites or any association with their operators.

10.     Security

We take commercially reasonable precautions to protect any PII collected through this Site. However, given the nature of the Internet and the fact that network security measures are not infallible, we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

We have implemented the following measures to protect and safeguard your personal information:

  • Limiting the amount of personal information that we collect to strictly necessary information only;

  • Using SSL or other secure connection technologies when receiving personal information beyond internal networks; and

  • Maintaining up-to-date software and safeguards.

If your PII changes, you may contact us at the address below to correct, update, or delete and deactivate our record of your PII.

12.     Notification of Changes

If, however, we propose to use your PII in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you by e-mail and by posting a notice on this Site. In all cases, you are responsible for ensuring we have a current working e-mail address for you in order to receive these updates. If the e-mail address you have given us is incorrect or no longer operable, we will have no further obligation to notify you apart from posting the notice on our Site.

Most websites and web services, including ours, don't change their behavior when they receive a Do Not Track request. Nevertheless, you can either enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your browser.
