What a Netflix Show Taught Me About Unhealed Blocks

I work a lot, and I work hard, and the fastest way I can shift out of work-mode (and turn my channel off) is to engage in a different story. In 2024, I read the entire Harry Potter series for the first time with my daughter, and it was such a juicy little world to dip into. It grabbed my full attention and helped me shift completely out of work.

I'm not currently reading anything (I'm between books), and recently I needed to reset on the Biomat, so I turned on Netflix and found a real estate show based in NYC with a predominantly female cast. It felt different enough from my life that I wanted to take a peek (plus, I love beautiful homes, and I knew it would deliver).

I watched the series over a few days while resting, cooking, or in the bathtub. I was hooked, like how you get hooked on something tasty but not good for you.

It became a case study. Watching this group interact was like my Group Dynamics psychology class in college but on crack. The finale is nuts (obviously, it needs to be for TV) and sad and such a picture of what it looks like to focus on the outside before the inside.

These women focus on appearance and making their mark in a male-dominated industry in a big city. They've got things on lock (their faces, bodies, wardrobe, dreams, position on the team), but they're covering up what's unhealed inside. They're living from their human experience and ego, and they're sad and settling in many areas of their lives.

My life used to be like this. I checked a lot of life's boxes but felt like a cavernous hole on the inside.

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to hop a flight to NYC and sit down with a few of them to get them healed and whole so they can get out of their own way and live the life they want. Many of them are in broken relationships or want to be in a relationship, or want children but can't or haven't found the relationship to have them in.

They're bringing the best (occasionally) and the worst (frequently) out of each other. They aren't at home in themselves or their lives, and they've manifested each other and these dynamics to show them where they're unhealed. They just don't know that's what's happening because they're just in it and not aware of it.

Everyone deserves to live a healed life, but not everyone is meant to. The road that leads you back home is one that few take because it will cost you everything that's not a match to your authenticity and the life you're meant to be living. But when you choose to walk yourself home, you never look back because it's so good you can't believe you settled for where you were, thinking that was as good as it was gonna get.

I dream about what would happen to everything in the lives of women like these if they were Soul Forward. I think about this about a lot of people, not just ones on Netflix. I see the untapped potential in people and think, "Oh my gosh, if they would just heal what's keeping them from bringing it to life, they would blow their own mind with how good it gets to be."

I had a Reflection Session this week with an amazing woman who said, "I'm here to shake shit up. I'm here to move mountains," and it was like music to my ears. I know that when she comes through SFM, she'll unlock the power that will fuel her to do it.

You are power. A current of electricity flowing through a human that's had all the experiences you've had. Some experiences amplify the light and shine it like a lighthouse into the world. Some experiences block your light, power, and electricity. You get brighter, more powerful, and more electric when you heal them.

You bring that block into your exchanges with the world when you don't heal it. People are mirroring to you where you have these unhealed blocks in place, so you'll realize they're there and heal them.

This is my world. I'm here to make it brighter by helping you make yourself brighter.

Why would you want to carry the heaviness of those blocks any longer than you already have?

It's time to shine.
