What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis in layman’s terms is a heightened state of awareness.

Hypnosis has been sanctioned and used by the medical community since 1958 to help patients overcome chronic pain, create anesthesia, and heal psychogenic illnesses. It has also been shown to be effective in reducing stress and stress-related illnesses.

In its most basic form, hypnosis is a state of focused consciousness or attention. You reach this state by working with a guide who helps you relax and gently guides you into this state.

Once you have achieved this relaxed, altered state of consciousness, you'll receive hypnotic suggestions. These suggestions will enable you to make the changes you desire, whether that be changing thought processes or developing new, healthy, coping mechanisms.

Who benefits from hypnosis?

Anyone who is struggling to overcome old habits can benefit from hypnosis. These habits can range from negative thought patterns, limiting beliefs about anything (money, love, worthiness, etc.)

How does virtual hypnosis work?

Virtual hypnosis works in much the same way normal hypnosis does. I will circulate a secure online meeting link before our time together, and we will meet for our individual, one on one hypnosis session. Since hypnosis uses the sound of my voice and hypnotic suggestions to create the hypnotic state, we don’t need to be in the same room (or even in the same country) to have an effective session.

How do I prepare for my session?

The key to a successful hypnosis session is the willingness to participate in the process. All you need to prepare for your session is a quiet space, a solid internet connection so we can connect remotely, and a comfortable place free from distractions where you can allow yourself to relax.

Since sessions range from 90-120 minutes, you must be positioned comfortably, but not so much so that you fall asleep. Because of this, I recommend all of my clients sit on a couch or chair, or lean on pillows propped up on a bed.

As a trained master hypnotist I use techniques to put you into the correct subconscious level and keep you there. Just bring your willingness and curiosity, and create a safe and comfortable space for yourself, and I will do the rest.

How will I know if I am hypnotized?

You go through the state of hypnosis all the time. If you've ever been so engrossed in something that someone had to say your name a few times to get your attention - you were in hypnosis. Or if you were driving and missed your exit because you were so focused on what you were thinking about - you were in hypnosis.

Hypnosis is defined as a "heightened state of awareness.” Because of this, you remember everything from the sessions. You also have full control of yourself and can come out of hypnosis at any time you choose. It's the willingness to be/stay hypnotized that allows us to make the journey.

How will I feel in between sessions?

Between sessions, you can expect to experience any number of ways. You may feel excited, lighter, relieved, enlightened, or more motivated. Or you may feel heavy, sad, or tired. It runs the gamut. You may want to process through writing, meditating, or talking about what came through in your session.

After sessions, I encourage my clients to hydrate well and ensure they take some time to process. This may include taking a salt bath, going for a walk, or calling a friend to discuss the feelings you just encountered. Hypnosis is a powerful tool, so be gentle with yourself and give yourself the grace, and the time, to provide for your own mental and physical wellness.

Why hypnosis?

This journey of hypnosis is deeply healing in a way that other modalities are not. Things like therapy and journaling have you processing things in your conscious mind - that's just managing the symptoms. With hypnotherapy, we deal with the root of the symptoms.

The symptoms of our mental issues or negative habits often live in our subconscious. By accessing the subconscious, we can heal the wound at its root. The result? Healing parts of yourself you may never even believed was possible.
